After meeting Bill and having my team toughen up a bit, I decided to try my hand at Misty. Not sure if I would leave with the same team as I entered with. Tsunami and I got a snack from the PokéMart. He likes spicy foods.
Sure is watery in here.
As I enter the gym, I see her swimming about in a blue swimsuit and I see nothing tethering her to her gym like Brock was. "Misty, I have come to challenge you. I have to beat you so I can take another step towards leaving this world." She sees me and continues to swim. "Misty, this is a formal challenge. Please respond." She begins doing breaststrokes. "Alright Daisy, get her attention."
Daisy attacks with two vines towards the gym leader when suddenly, Staryu burst from the water to defend her. The two monsters locked eyes and began their one on one assualt. Staryu tried getting in some offense but it was highly ineefective due to the water attacks it knew. Daisy repeatedly whipped Staryu until he fell over and succumbed to defeat.
"Staryu.." she held it close to her and let it fall into the water with a large splash. The ripples became stronger which then led them to become waves and from the depths emerged a Starmie, shining in the gym's lights. Misty knew this was her last chance.
Daisy attacked once with her whips with little effect. Starmie rushed at Daisy nearly knocking her out once and for all. I called Daisy back and sent out my strongest, Tsunami. He was also a water Pokemon, but he wasn't a one note beast. He bit down on the star shaped enemy, even while being attacked and mauled, until it finally stopped moving and it was no more.
Maybe we should get more experience..
Gimme dat badge!
Misty applauds me and hands me the badge of her gym. With this badge I am just that nuch closer to beating this game and leaving once and for all. I reach down towards the water to shake her hand and I hear a familiar noise. The same noise I heard at Brock's gym. Water begins flooding the gym, even more than before. The other trainers scramble for the door, but I stay behind and try to convince Misty that she can come with me.
"This happened at Brock's gym. We have to get out of here!" she swims away from me, as if already knowing what happened to Brock. Did they know each other? Were they friends in a previous life? The gym is now full of water and I try to reach out to her one final time as I struggle to hold my breath.
Tsunami grabs my shirt and helps us escape the gym through a window near the top of the west wall at an almost supersonic speed. My last memory of Misty was watching her fall to the depths of that gym, at peace with her Pokémon.
